Complete an internship and deliver a great end product: that was Bram’s aim during his six-month internship at Hellings. There are various internship and graduation opportunities at Hellings, such as collaborating, researching or designing. Bram chose a collaborative assignment. Read about his assignment here.

Defining KPIs and designing management dashboards with Microsoft Power BI
During my internship at Hellings I focused on developing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and management dashboards. These tools are becoming increasingly important as Hellings grows and needs to make more complex decisions based on data rather than gut feeling alone.
The project started with thorough research into KPIs and dashboards. I then made the Hellings strategy SMART (Specific, Measurable, Acceptable, Relevant and Time-bound). Through workshops with various departments, we jointly defined critical performance indicators. I then translated these KPIs into visual dashboards using Microsoft Power BI.
The end result consists of concrete KPIs at both strategic and operational level for various departments. After determining which data was needed to measure these KPIs, I processed them into Power BI dashboards that are now actively used within the company.
I look back on my internship at Hellings with great pleasure. Read my tips below to get the most out of your internship.
You may get stuck or be unable to continue with your assignment for a while. During that time, there's room to do other things. You will learn from this and see other sides of the company.
If you need to know something or want to discuss something, go to someone to ask for help or an explanation.
Various activities are organised during the internship period. Join in so that you get to know your colleagues in a different way.
