Meet Mirjam from Finance & HR. What started with polishing stainless steel in the early days of Hellings grew into a permanent place in our team. Mirjam supports Finance & HR and is a true all-rounder. She loves variety, switches effortlessly between customers and colleagues and considers working together the most important thing of all: “Together you get further; that’s what makes working here so much fun.”
The name Hellings says it all really: I am family. Paul, the founder of Hellings, is my brother. I have experienced the company up close from the very beginning. In the early years I helped out wherever I could: cutting plastic, polishing stainless steel, preparing machines for delivery. Not only to contribute, but also for the fun of working with familiar faces.
In 2018 I officially joined the company. What started as a few hours a week in administration grew into a permanent position of 24 hours in the Finance & HR department. I now work in a small, close-knit team with great colleagues.
For me, an ideal working day is nicely varied. I like to pick up different tasks and keep the day moving. Telephone contact with international customers is also part of it. Sometimes I have to switch quickly to German or English – still a challenge – but one I enjoy.
The office is usually a pleasant place. We chat during breaks or take a walk outside together. Sometimes I am the only one in the office because colleagues work from home. I make use of that myself too, especially when I need to concentrate on a specific task. That freedom works well.
For me, working together is all about contact. By exchanging ideas and looking for solutions together, you reach results faster. I notice that especially when things change, like when we introduced a new administrative system. It took some getting used to, but through good consultation and helping each other, the transition went surprisingly smoothly. I strongly believe in the power of a team that thinks along, moves along and strengthens each other. That, to me, is the essence of ‘Creating solutions together’.
