Hellings designs and manufactures safe, hygienic and durable customised machines for end users and OEMs in the food, pet food and pharmaceutical industries

At a time when sustainability is becoming increasingly important, Hellings and Land van Kien are joining forces for a creative solution for wood recycling.

At Hellings, the management of wood waste became a challenge. A lot of wood passes through every day when packing machines for transport. The wood waste was collected in a container in the assembly hall, but during busy periods it often got in the way.

Assembly team leader Remco van Horst says:

“Together with director Paul Hellings, we started looking for a solution. Because Paul is involved with Land van Kien, we contacted the supervisors of the day care centre at the Heldenhonk. They can use the wood that we no longer need to make beautiful products.”

Land van Kien collects a trailer of wood from Hellings every month. Roel Jansen from Land van Kien:

“The wood is already sorted, so the people at the day care centre can start working with it immediately. For example, they have used materials to furnish the Farm Shop and are making other beautiful products from them.”

This collaboration offers benefits for all parties: Hellings reduces waste and creates space, Land van Kien can use high-quality material, and the day care centre makes beautiful and useful products. A concrete example of how collaboration and sustainability can go hand in hand.
